The AdvanceMed Doctor 360° Feedback & Coaching Program is a structured professional development experience designed for doctors at every stage of their medical career. Whether an intern, resident, registrar, specialist, or senior consultant, participants receive high-quality, multi-source feedback that supports deeper insight, stronger professional identity, and more confident clinical and leadership practice.

Using tailored 360 tools calibrated for different levels of seniority, the program assesses performance across the full CanMEDS framework—Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Leader, Health Advocate, Scholar, and Professional—along with an additional Culturally Safe and Responsive Practitioner role that reflects contemporary expectations for safe, equitable care.

Participants complete a reflective self-assessment, invite reviewers from across their clinical environment (e.g. colleagues, supervisors, trainees, nursing and allied health staff), and—where appropriate—patients and families. The focus is not on grading or compliance but on honest, constructive developmental feedback that promotes growth and excellence.

Throughout the program, participants are guided step-by-step:

  • preparing for the 360 process
  • selecting appropriate reviewers
  • understanding anonymity and safety
  • completing the self-assessment
  • interpreting their personalised report
  • working with a coach to translate insights into practical improvement goals

For early-career doctors, the program strengthens foundational skills, workplace behaviours and collaborative practice. For mid-career clinicians, it supports growth in leadership, communication and system thinking. For senior doctors, it provides a sophisticated lens on complex decision-making, cultural leadership, influence, and the impact they have on teams, services and patients.

By the end of the program, each participant will have:

  • A multi-source feedback report based on a tool calibrated to their level
  • A clear understanding of how colleagues and patients experience their practice
  • Insight into communication, teamwork, professionalism, cultural safety, and clinical effectiveness
  • A personalised development plan with targeted, achievable goals
  • Increased self-awareness and confidence to progress to the next stage of practice

The Doctor 360° Feedback & Coaching Program offers a safe, structured and evidence-based way for doctors to reflect, grow and continue delivering excellent care throughout their career.

Frequently Asked Questions

A 360° evaluation gathers structured feedback about your professional behaviours from the people who know your work best—peers, supervisors, junior doctors, nurses, allied health, and admin. It gives you a fuller, more accurate picture of your performance than self-assessment alone.

Because a 360° cuts through assumptions. You’ll see how others actually experience your communication, teamwork, leadership, professionalism, and clinical behaviours—mapped to the CanMEDS roles. This gives you clarity, reduces blind spots, and guides targeted improvement.

The CanMEDS framework is the most internationally recognised framework for the training and professional development of doctors. It was developed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has been widely adopted by the majority of Australian and New Zealand medical colleges.

Yes. The full program qualifies for 5 hours of Meeting Outcomes CPD, which is one of the most valuable CPD categories for annual medical registration. You’ll receive documented evidence of reflection, feedback, discussion, and outcome planning.

We use Spidergap, a secure, globally recognised 360° feedback platform used by health organisations, universities, and large companies. It’s purpose-built for multisource assessments and keeps rater anonymity protected.

Whilst individual responses are anonymous and reported in aggregate, the extent of anonymity depends on how many raters in each group completes the survey, your raters are informed about this when invited to complete the survey. Only you and your coach see the report.

This depends on the type of survey. We generally suggest a mix of:

  • Supervisors/Managers
  • Colleagues/Peers
  • Junior doctors
  • Nurses
  • Allied health
  • Admin and patient-facing staff

We aim for a balanced spread across roles who regularly observe your work.

Some surveys also include the option to survey patients and their carers.

Ideally 8–15 or more. Fewer than 6 is usually less reliable.

The system sends automatic reminders, and you can add a polite follow-up. Low response rates can weaken the accuracy of the report, so we guide you on how to select and follow up appropriately. If there are problems with survey responsivity your coach will guide you on what to do.
